Dam & Levee Repair

The Ideal Solution for Dam and Levee Repair
DeWind One-Pass Trenchers are perfectly suited for Dam and Levee repair.
Repairing Dams and Levees requires precision, power, and innovative technology to ensure structural integrity and long-lasting results. DeWind One-Pass Trenchers deliver on all fronts, providing a groundbreaking solution for creating seepage barriers that are reliable, consistent, and seamlessly constructed.
What DeWind Offers
DeWind One-Pass Trenchers are compact, multi-tasking machines engineered to handle the most demanding Dam and Levee repair projects. They excel at mixing dense, heavy (low-slump) soil-bentonite (SB) or soil-cement-bentonite (SCB) blends in place, a critical requirement for seepage barriers in leaking Dams and Levees.
DeWind’s mix-in-place technology ensures that the in-situ mix is denser than the surrounding soils, that no open trench or slurry-supported trench is necessary, and that the free body diagram of forces remains intact. The one-pass method is unique in that the constructed wall has the same composition from top-to-bottom. Each of DeWind’s trenchers can install hydraulic barrier walls from a working pad of 30 feet width or less, enabling walls to be constructed directly from the dam crest.
In addition to seepage barrier walls, DeWind can construct pressure relief trenches at the upstream or downstream toes of earthen embankment dams. These trenches can be installed to depths of up to 50 feet, with no open excavation, and generally with the same trencher utilized for barrier wall installation – saving you money on mobilization costs.
How DeWind Does It
DeWind One-Pass Trenchers employ an advanced mixing process that thoroughly blends native soils with cement and/or bentonite additives from top to bottom and start to finish. This approach creates a seamless, consistent barrier wall with no weak points.
Key features of DeWind’s technology include:
- High Torque and Power: Designed to handle dense, low-slump mixtures ideal for dam and levee repairs.
- Technologically Advanced Controls: DeWind Trenchers are equipped with systems that meter, monitor, and track additive levels throughout the installation process. This ensures precise, uniform mixing and eliminates errors.
- Precise Depth Control: GPS or laser leveling ensure target depths are achieved and accurate As-Builts are constructed.
- Positive Key-In: Where conventional excavators experience refusal, DeWind can key into dense soils and sedimentary rock formations, ensuring all potential seepage pathways are cut off.
Why DeWind Excels
DeWind’s One-Pass Trenchers address the unique challenges of dam and levee repair. Here’s why they are the preferred choice:
- Complete Homogenization: Unlike traditional methods, DeWind ensures the native soil and additives are completely mixed to form a consistent barrier wall that is void-free.
- Seamless Construction: The continuous mixing process eliminates the risk of gaps or weak points, critical for ensuring the integrity of seepage barriers – for years to come.
- Advanced Quality Control: Multiple advanced systems meticulously monitor every step of the process, ensuring a perfect installation every time.
- Compact and Versatile Design: DeWind Trenchers are capable of working efficiently in confined spaces and challenging conditions.
